WWE In Talks With NJPW

WWE is reportedly in talks with New Japan Pro-Wrestling.

According to Dave Meltzer in this week’s Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE President Nick Khan has been in talks with NJPW about becoming the exclusive American partner for the company.

In what could end up being among the biggest wrestling stories of the year, or a non-story, depending on the end result, Nick Khan has been in talks with New Japan Pro Wrestling about WWE being the exclusive American partner with the promotion.

The talks between Khan and NJPW management date back to March or early April. It’s unknown where things currently stand in discussions. If both parties agree to a deal, WWE would allow top stars to work in New Japan as part of the partnership.

During the pandemic, NJPW formed relationships with AEW and Impact Wrestling.  If any deal is made, WWE would want exclusivity, which would end partnerships with other American companies.

In the past, NJPW formed deals with CMLL in Mexico and Ring Of Honor.
