WWE Summerslam Advertising Omits Key Stars

WWE Summerslam is this August in Toronto, and ahead of official ticket sales this Friday, the company has released promotional material for Maple Leaf Sports and Entertainment, the company that owns Scotiabank Arena.

The advertisements promote the up-coming NXT Takeover: Toronto, Summerslam, RAW and Smackdown at the Scotiabank Arena 8/10 – 8/13.

Key WWE stars such as Dean Ambrose and Ronda Rousey are omitted from advertising.  Dean Ambrose is reportedly leaving the company in April when his contract expires, despite attempts from WWE to re-sign him.

Ronda Rousey is reportedly taking a leave of absence following Wrestlemania 35, which explains her omission from the advertising.

Kofi Kingston is shown front and center as the main Smackdown star, and Finn Balor is shown as the main RAW star. Roman Reigns is shown as the main star for Summerslam, and Velveteen Dream is shown as the main star for NXT Takeover: Toronto.

Promotional advertising will change over the next several months as storylines evolve, and creative shifts occur, but this advertisement does provide some insight on who the company sees as standout stars ahead of the big weekend this August.
