This past April, WWE released a number of talent, and furloughed dozens employees during company wide cuts. Recently, WWE re-signed a released NXT talent, and brought back a Performance Center coach.
According to PWInsider, Chris Guy aka Ace Steel has returned to WWE, and is now back working as a coach. He originally signed a deal in 2019, following an extensive run on the independent scene.
He previously made appearances for WWE in the 2000s. He signed a developmental deal with the company in 2007 as an in-ring performer, but was released a year later. He is also known for his work in Ring Of Honor and TNA.
WWE Re-Signs Released NXT Wrestler
According to the report, WWE has also re-signed Tino Sabbatelli, who appears to be the second WWE talent who has signed a new deal after being released, the first being Drake Maverick.
Sabbatelli was released this past April, and made one in-ring appearance on AEW Dark this past summer under the name ‘Sabby’.
Fightful Select (subscription required) recently revealed, Sabbatelli is being blamed backstage at AEW for leaking spoilers. Chris Jericho referred to him as a ‘NXT reject’ on his Saturday Night Special stream, without revealing his name. It’s unknown if he actually was leaking spoilers online, despite him believed to be the culprit backstage at the company.
Indie Talent Receive Tryouts
WWE held tryouts at the WWE Performance Center, which included three notable independent talents.
Among those seen include, Colby Corino, who is the son of former ECW Champion and NXT producer Steve Corino, former EVOLVE star Anthony Henry, and Blake Christian, who is best known for his work in Game Changer Wrestling.
