It was recently reported by WhatCulture that WWE is considering running a major pay per view from the United Kingdom in 2022, with rumors being that the event would be held at either Principality Stadium in Cardiff (just under70,000 capacity) or Wembley Stadium in London (90,000 capacity).

In an update from the Wrestling Observer Newsletter it appears that both of those venues are still in the running, but it is definitely still not a “done deal.” The Old Trafford in Manchester is also under consideration at it can hold up to 74,000 fans. Holding a pay per view at Wembley would be historically significant since it would be 30 years since SummerSlam 1992.

The Observer also notes that WWE is looking to run more stadium shows following the success of this year’s SummerSlam from Allegiant Stadium in Las Vegas. There were reported plans of holding a major show in the U.K. in 2020, which would have featured a Drew McIntyre vs. Tyson Fury matchup, but the COVID-19 outbreak stopped that from happening. Neither man has promoted a fight with the other in quite some time.

As previously mentioned these seem to be light plans as sources in WWE indicate that nothing official has been confirmed.
