Andrade has been granted his release by WWE.

WWE issued the following statement Sunday night.

WWE has come to terms on the release of Andrade. We wish him all the best in all of his future endeavors

Ahead of the release, Andrade tweeted the following.

Good news!!!! Buenas noticias!!! #Tranquilo #Happy

Andrade requested his release backstage at Monday Night RAW on 3/8. At the time, WWE denied his request, and his status with the company was unknown.

He took to Twitter, confirming the news of his request, releasing the following statement.

The rumors are true and I don’t know what the future holds but I want to make my dreams come true. thank you for giving me so much support these last days Los rumores son ciertos y no se lo que me prepara el futuro, pero quiero hacer realidad mis sueños. Gracias por tanto apoyo

Andrade has not appeared on WWE television for several months, last competing during the 10/12/20 edition of Monday Night RAW against Angel Garza.

During the WWE Draft last fall, Andrade was not included, but was expected to remain on RAW. He reportedly underwent a “minor elective procedure” which is the reason he initially was kept off television.

In 2019 Andrade filed a trademark for the name “La Sombra” and ‘El Idolo’ via ‘Gimmick Attorney Michael E. Dockins. The trademarks were filed for entertainment services, and merchandise as a professional wrestler. Now that he has left WWE he may use one of those names.

It’s unknown if he is bound by a non-compete clause. If he is, he would be eligible to work for another promotion beginning in mid-June.
