NXT Moving To Wednesday, November 4

WWE NXT will air on Wednesday, November 4, head to head with AEW Dynamite: Blood & Guts.

Fightful reports listings now show NXT on Wednesday instead of its usual Tuesday slot on The CW. The move is due to CW airing coverage of the midterm elections on Tuesday, November 3.

According to Bryan Alvarez of F4WOnline, via Wrestling Inc., NXT was told to load up the show.

"Confirmed that November 4th NXT and AEW are going head-to-head. That’s the Blood and Guts show and NXT was told to load it up."

The November 4 episode will be the first NXT show after Halloween Havoc on October 31.

AEW announced the men’s Blood & Guts match on Dynamite. Will Ospreay, Adam Copeland, Darby Allin, Steven Borden and the Young Bucks vs. Kyle Fletcher, Kevin Knight, Kazuchika Okada, Mark Davis, Jake Doyle and Wardlow of the Don Callis Family.

Blood & Guts is set for the VyStar Veterans Memorial Arena in Jacksonville, Florida. It is one of AEW’s biggest television specials of the year, built around the Blood & Guts cage match.

The move was not made to counter AEW. It came from the network side. If NXT stayed on Tuesday, November 3, it would be preempted in far too many markets because of election coverage, and The CW expects that problem across many stations.

Still, the result is a direct ratings fight. Fightful noted this will be the first time the two shows have gone head to head on a Wednesday since 2021, when AEW won the Wednesday Night Wars. Since then, they have gone head to head in some years on Tuesdays, when AEW has shifted nights because of the MLB playoffs.

Halloween Havoc on October 31 should set up a lot of what NXT loads up. That show is the last major NXT event before November 4, so new champions, returns, or main roster names held for that night would carry straight into the Blood & Guts episode.

WWE has not announced the November 4 NXT card yet.
