Max Caster says his former tag team partner Anthony Bowens is still with AEW.
Caster spoke during a virtual signing with K and S WrestleFest. When it was brought up that Bowens left AEW around the same time as Caster, Caster pushed back on that idea.
“He’s wrestling,” Caster said. “He’s still there. I don’t wanna speak for him too much but he still works there.”
The update matters because Fightful Select reported in early October that Bowens and Caster were free agents, as they were no longer with AEW. Bowens did a media appearance after that report, but he did not clarify whether he was still officially with the company. Bowens has since posted a photo of himself training at the NJPW Dojo.
Caster spent the last five years with AEW. He is a former AEW World Tag Team Champion and World Trios Champion with Bowens as part of The Acclaimed. His own future is now on pause.
Caster said he is stepping away from pro wrestling after his situation at TNA Bound For Glory. He lost to Moose at the show, and TNA later cut ties with him after a controversial rap during his entrance. Caster said he agreed to do the K and S WrestleFest signing a couple of months ago, and it will be his last wrestling appearance for an undefined amount of time.
Asked about a possible return to AEW, Caster did not close the door, but he did not leave it open either.
“It’s wrestling, right? You never say never. However, I am saying no to wrestling bookings right now, and that would be a wrestling booking so, I don’t know,” Caster said.
Caster has said he is seeking therapy before any return to the ring.
What is confirmed is what Caster said at the signing, and that he is taking time away from bookings. What is not confirmed is Bowens’ official contract status, since AEW has not announced it, and Caster said himself he did not want to speak too much for Bowens.
