Shane Strickland is officially a free agent after dealing with a contractual issue with Lucha Underground preventing him from signing with WWE.
Strickland was scheduled to leave Lucha Underground once Season 4 was completed this past October. Strickland was promised a release after Season 4 ended, but was faced with a situation where Lucha Underground wasn’t granting the release.

Earlier this week Lucha Underground star Ivelisse spoke on the situation with her own contract claiming the company was “legally holding her hostage” after promises of a release after the conclusion of Season 4.
Strickland managed to be granted his release, and is reportedly WWE bound, more specifically for the NXT brand.
According to PWInsider last night’s MLW Fusion episode would be his last scheduled appearance for the company. Lucha Underground allowed him to compete for MLW, but not sign any exclusive deal with any organization.
Strickland has been removed from any up-coming MLW appearances.
Strickland has yet to sign a deal with the WWE, but once he does, he’s expected to move to Orlando and report to the Performance Center.
