The future of 205 Live has not been finalized, and different options are currently on the table.
Dave Meltzer noted in the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, that the company is discussing many different options for the show. Bryan Alvarez noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that 205 Live could begin airing on Wednesday night’s, before or after NXT. Meltzer noted this is one of the options that is being discussed.
Triple H noted in a Newsweek interview that 205 Live will now be under the NXT brand, with the Cruiserweight title being defended under that banner. “I think it always existed as an island onto itself, a little bit, and it’s become lost in this limbo,” Triple H stated. “You’ll begin to see it move more towards the NXT banner and the talent there. We have a lot of talent. For them to begin to compete either open against anyone or in the cruiserweight division, but have that title sit under the NXT brand is more meaningful.”
At one point in time an option to end the program was discussed, but with these other options being discussed, that might not be the case.
While Triple H’s comments didn’t reveal that the brand is ending, it does confirm plans to integrate talent within the NXT umbrella. More details should be known over the next few weeks as NXT debuts on USA Network, and SmackDown debuts on FOX.
