All Elite Wrestling has filed a new trademark for the name ‘Captain Insano’ with The United States Patent and Trademark Office.
On 3/2, the promotion filed the trademark for use in video games and digital media. The trademark was entered in the trademark database on 3/6.
International Class 09: Video game cartridges and discs; Digital media, namely, pre-recorded DVDs, downloadable audio and video recordings, and CDs featuring and promoting wrestling; Downloadable video game software; Recorded video game software.
International Class 025: Bandanas; Hats; Headwear; Pants; Shirts; Shorts; Socks; Sweatshirts; T-shirts; Undergarments; Jackets; Tank tops; Clothing for wear in wrestling games
Intent to Use: The applicant has a bona fide intention, and is entitled, to use the mark in commerce on or in connection with the identified goods/services. (15 U.S.C. Section 1051(b)).

Captain Insano was a character portrayed by Paul Wight in the 1998 film “The Waterboy” starring Adam Sandler.

Based on the type of filing, it would appear the character will be used in an upcoming AEW video game. AEW is expected to release the AEW Elite GM mobile game later this year, and their long-awaited console game in 2022.
In Jan 2020, Children’s author Christopher Williamson filed trademark for the name ‘Captain Insano’ for use in children’s books. Williamson was granted registration of the trademark in August of that year.
