All Elite Wrestling Turned Down Offer To Purchase Impact Wrestling?

All Elite Wrestling has yet to formally announce their promotion, but reportedly already had talks with Impact Wrestling.

In the latest edition of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, Dave Meltzer states there were attempts at trying to sell Impact Wrestling to those involved in All Elite Wrestling.

It is not a secret that there were forces attempting to sell Impact to AEW a few months ago, but that proposal was turned down.

Although it wasn’t specified the details behind the proposal, one could only speculate that Impact was trying to get their company purchased by Tony Khan, the billionaire co-founder behind the Jacksonville Jaguars, and now All Elite Wrestling.

Impact Wrestling has had some internal shifts in 2018, along with the recent announcement that they were leaving PopTV to broadcast their weekly Impact! program on Anthem’s Pursuit Channel.

The deal with Pursuit is essentially a placeholder as Impact works to secure a time slot with a larger network in 2019.

The announcement of AEW is expected to happen sometime over the next few weeks. The company recently trademarked another possible event “Fight For the Fallen”.

We have reached out to Impact Wrestling public relations to comment on this story, we will update if any answer is received.
