When WWE launched NXT programming on the USA Network last September the big question was whether talent would receive raises.
According to Fightful Select (subscription required), several NXT talent received significant raises in October 2019 following the new television deal between WWE and USA Network.
Details on which starts received raises, and how much more they will be paid has yet to be revealed. However, the report does indicate the raises are not in line with RAW and SmackDown talent, but are “substantial” in comparison to what they were making before.
Most of the new deals did require talent to sign new three-year contracts with WWE, and not every one who was offered a new deal signed it.
Last year, The Sports Business Journal revealed that WWE developmental talent were paid between $50,000 and – $150,000 per year, with the average NXT salary being at $80,000 per year.
In 2014, the average salary of a NXT star was $25,000 according to The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. One year later, WWE raised the guarantee for top NXT talent to $100,000+ according to a report from PWInsider.
As more details are known, an update will be provided.
