Chair Shot Spot At Fyter Fest Went Wrong
Following Cody’s time-limit draw with Darby Allin at last night’s AEW Fyter Fest, Shawn Spears entered the ring and hit Cody with a chair.

The spot was gimmicked according to The Young Bucks in a post-show media scrum. Dave Meltzer noted on Wrestling Observer Radio that the spot went wrong, and a part of the chair hit him on the back of the head.
Based on the photos below it seems that the bottom of the backrest is what caused Cody to be cut open.
During the post-Fyter Fest media scrum it was stated that the chair Cody got hit in the head with was “gimmicked,” but something must have gone wrong.

Tony Khan spoke on the incident following the event. He noted that they had doctors on hand.
