One of the biggest news items from the last week was the injury sustained by WWE superstar and former SmackDown women’s champion Bayley, who went down with a torn ACL and will be out of in-ring action for a minimum of nine months.
Bayley recently took to her social media, sharing a photo undergoing surgery.
Can’t wait to miss the first show in front of fans again. I blame YOU for this. Thanks a lot pic.twitter.com/ETOhRyeYkj

The latest Wrestling Observer Newsletter has released more notes in regards to Bayley’s injury, which you can check out below.
-There was some reported controversy backstage as the injury to Bayley occurred during mandatory training as many wrestlers noted to the publication that they thought the training didn’t make sense anyway as many were already in good condition.
-One veteran wrestler had this to say regarding the mandatory training: “I wrestled full time for 15 years. If you are in shape enough to do TV and PPV matches you need zero conditioning or preparation to go back on the road and do live events. My entire regular career I never did a single in-ring drill for conditioning. I did cardio at the gym sure but never additional ring time. The only time I did in-ring drills for conditioning was when I took post “retirement” bookings and had to have a big match for the first time in a year or so, but that’s because I hadn’t had a match in a year and was going to have to do 30 minutes at a top-level. When I went from working 1 match a week locally to 7 nights a week I did zero drills to prepare. The only thing harder about 7 nights a week to once a week is the wear and tear on your body, so doing more wear and tear with drills to prepare makes it worse, not better.”
-There’s speculation that Bayley could be kept on television for her talk show despite not being able to compete, similar to how WWE used the Miz when he was hurt.
-Bayley’s last matchup in front of fans took place on March 6th in 2020, meaning that when she returns from injury it will be nearly two full years since she worked in front of a crowd. Bayley was not on this year’s WrestleMania 37 card.
