Gangrel was supposed to appear on Wednesday’s AEW Dynamite.
On his ‘Fangin N’ Bangin’ podcast, Gangrel has revealed that plans for an AEW debut were scrapped when Edge came out with his Brood entrance at SummerSlam.
Gangrel noted that AEW reached out to him last week regarding a potential appearance on this week’s Dynamite, with plans quickly progressing to the point where they were creating his entrance. AEW then called Gangrel on Monday to inform him that they had cancelled his appearance due to ‘WWE media stuff’.
Prior to their match at SummerSlam, Edge unleashed a ‘Brood Bath’ on Seth Rollins during SmackDown, before making his entrance to The Brood’s theme song at SummerSlam last Saturday.
Gangrel noted that he was in doubt of his AEW appearance when the segment happened on SmackDown, with the SummerSlam entrance being the ‘final nail in the coffin.’ Despite this, he was still happy for Edge.
Gangrel wasn’t sure what he would be doing on Dynamite, however due to his Brood relationship with Christian Cage he guessed that it would be something involving Cage and Omega.
He revealed that he recently spoke to Edge regarding the situation, noting that Edge was apologetic upon first hearing. Edge told him that he had worked on the segment for three months, with it being difficult due to WWE’s PG rating. Edge initially wanted to use red blood, however he was told that if it wasn’t black, it wasn’t happening.
Gangrel reiterated that he has no problems with Edge and was thrilled to see his entrance at SummerSlam. He also mentioned that he’d like to be booked by AEW sometime in the future.
