As first reported by SoCal Uncensored, Joey Ryan has signed a multi-year deal with IMPACT Wrestling. Ryan confirmed the report indicating, “It made the most sense. Impact Wrestling has been the most consistent wrestling program on TV for the past 2 years, I get to keep all of my indie dates and best of all, they let me be me.”

Joey Ryan made a surprise appearance during the “Call Your Shot” gauntlet match at tonight’s Bound For Glory pay-per-view.

WWE had interest in signing Ryan to the NXT brand, and eventually transition him into a coach according to Dave Meltzer at The Wrestling Observer Newsletter. According to SoCalUncensored.com, Ryan  turned down an offer from All Elite Wrestling as well.

Despite offers from WWE and All Elite Wrestling, Ryan stated at the Bar Wrestling event this past June that he plans on staying independent.

“I choose you independent wrestling” Ryan stated. The reason for his decision is that his current gimmick would be done if he chooses to sign an exclusive deal with a major promotion.

Joey Ryan picking IMPACT Wrestling allows him to continue to work independent shows, keep his current gimmick, and the promotions progressive views on intergender wrestling.
