Lars Sullivan Has Broken His Silence Following His WWE Release Last Month.
Last night, PWInsider reported that Lars Sullivan and WWE had parted ways last month following a lengthy absence from television.
Sullivan was last seen on the November 6th edition of SmackDown where he took part in a sit down interview with Michael Cole shortly after returning to television.
Fightful Select (subscription required) reached out to Sullivan following his release, and in his response he mentioned that he is ‘likely done with wrestling’
Sullivan confirmed that he has left WWE, stating how he informed WWE that he was done with the company after battling ‘crippling anxiety issues to the point of struggling to eat during days of TV filming’. He also mentioned how his father passed away last year.
In 2019, Sullivan was fined $100,000 and was sent for sensitivity training after he was accused of making offensive comments on an online forum years prior to his WWE signing. Sullivan apologised for the comments via WWE.
“There is no excuse for the inappropriate remarks that I made years ago. They do not reflect my personal beliefs nor who I am today, and I apologize to anyone I offended.”
Dave Meltzer recently reported that Vince McMahon was high on Lars Sullivan and wanted to push him upon his return late last year, however he no-showed scheduled television tapings. Sullivan was originally scheduled to make his main roster debut in January 2019, however mental health issues meant that it was postponed to April of that year.
Sullivan took responsibility for some of the issues he encountered during his WWE run, saying how it was ‘his own selfish behaviour’. It was noted that Sullivan heavily complimented WWE on how they dealt with his departure, saying they did it with ‘compassion and honesty’
