WWE Issues Statement Following COVID-19 Outbreak

WWE is continuing to deal with a wave of positive COVID-19 tests this week after a number of talent and staff tested positive.

According to PWInsider, several sources confirm the outbreak started following a party hosted by NXT talent,  leading to transmission to those who work and train at the WWE Performance Center. Both trainees and staff have tested positive this week.

“The belief among several sources is that the outbreak started after a NXT talent threw a party that fellow trainees attended”

WWE has since paused classes at their temporary training facility, which is being used due to construction at the WWE Performance Center.

NXT star Chelsea Green confirmed she tested had tested positive via her personal Facebook page. She states she she is now clear of the virus.

The report indicates NXT talent have been advised to quarantine, and will not be able to able to attend RAW or SmackDown tapings at the WWE ThunderDome until further notice.

WWE issued the following statement.

“As part of ongoing testing protocols, WWE completed its second round of weekly COVID-19 testing on Tuesday. Individuals that tested positive will quarantine for 14 days, receive medical care, and then will only be cleared when they are symptom-free and test negative. Additionally, extensive contact tracing has taken place and other individuals have been placed in 14-day quarantine, and will then only be cleared after they test negative.”

WWE taped two episodes of NXT television this week, with a number of talent who were originally scheduled to appear taken off the show.

Many now fear of potential asymptomatic transmission due to NXT talent working this past Monday on RAW as Retribution members.

NXT’s next scheduled event is Takeover on 10/4, which gives WWE just over a week to have scheduled talent cleared for return.

All Elite Wrestling is dealing with their own COVID-19 cases, which caused a number of talent missing this week’s edition of AEW Dynamite
