Former IWGP Heavyweight Champion Jay White may actually be leaving New Japan Pro-Wrestling.
After his loss to Kota Ibushi at night two of Wrestle Kingdom 15, Jay White proclaimed he was “done” in a post-match press conference, leading many to believe this was part of an angle.
According to Super J-Cast, who has close ties inside NJPW, sources within the company believe Jay White will not extend his contract with the company, which is rumored to be ending at the end of January. The report also indicates WWE is “making a strong play” for him to join the promotion.
Several sources have indicated there is some doubt whether Jay White will extend his NJPW contract, rumoured to be up at the end of the month. WWE are believed to be making a strong play for him and it’s 50/50 whether he stays or goes.

Twitter insider Wrestlevotes commented on the situation, indicating many of the talent backstage have spoken highly of the NJPW star.
Lots of Jay White / WWE rumors swirling and I can say with certainly that a few of the boys have went out of their way to speak highly of him. And that resonates with some more than others. It’s “game” time.
