More details have been revealed on WWE releases requesting to forgo their non-compete clauses.

WWE has already released over two dozen Superstars this year, with talent from Raw, SmackDown, NXT, 205 Live being let go from their contracts, with many more backstage staff also leaving.

Once a wrestler is released from WWE, they are usually met with a non-compete clause, with different lengths depending on whether they worked on NXT or the main roster. This means that they cannot work for another company within that time, while also being paid.

Over recent weeks, details have emerged revealing how WWE was more open than ever to removing days from released Superstars non-compete clauses, with some requesting to exit them early. Fightful Select (subscription required) has provided an update on this situation.

According to the report, at least one talent has been able to get an ‘early out’ from their non-compete clause, and that WWE was willing to let them out fully, however it didn’t end up happening. It was also noted that WWE and Johnny Ace have been easy to deal with for these talks.

The first set of releases in April of this year, which included the likes of Chelsea Green, The IIconics, Mickie James, and Mojo Rawley will be able to work elsewhere after July 14. From then on, there’ll be several groups of talents being let go from their non-compete clauses in late August going into early September. This could of course change though, with WWE being more open to reducing the clauses.
