Update On WWE Testing Protocols

Last October, WWE invited limited fans back into the Capitol Wrestling Center for NXT shows, despite Raw and SmackDown continuing to take place without fans in the ThunderDome.

Those in attendance for NXT tapings were required to test negative for COVID-19 on the Monday before the show, however, according to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer Newsletter, WWE will now be providing free tests to fans on the day of the show due to them having quick turnaround times.

Fans aren’t the only ones facing changes, as WWE talents were previously tested the day prior to tapings, which allowed them to alter the card after any positive cases. Now, due to the increasing number of vaccinations, the process for their testing has changed.

Any talents outside the Orlando area will have to get tested in their hotel in Tampa a day prior to tapings, those in or around Orlando will be able to get tested on the same day in the Performance Center, before leaving until they receive their results and can return ahead of the show.

NXT talents can now also get tested on the same day as the show, with the majority of the roster living in the Orlando area.

It was recently revealed that WWE is planning to have fans back for Raw and SmackDown shows in mid-July, with the company hoping to return to live touring fully in the second half of 2021. You can read more on this here.
