WWE will reportedly give talent a day off on Christmas this year.
According to Ringside News, and confirmed by Gary Cassidy of Inside Of The Ropes, WWE has no plans to air Friday Night SmackDown live on 12/25.
The company has plans to pre-record the episode, but it’s unknown what date that taping will take place. The company may be forced to use pre-recorded virtual fans inside the ThunderDome, similar to what they do with NXT television.
WWE last went live on Christmas Day in 2017 for an episode of Monday Night RAW. This decision was met with criticism from both fans and family of WWE talent.
The company will also air SmackDown on New Year’s Day, it’s unknown if that will also be pre-taped.
