December 19 is one of the dates being considered for the John Cena Classic, which would put it on the same night as AEW Worlds End.
According to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, as reported by eWrestling, December 19 is under consideration for the tournament. AEW has already confirmed Worlds End for Saturday, December 19 at the Target Center in Minneapolis, Minnesota.
AAA also has an event set for that same day. Guerra de Titanes is scheduled for December 19 at Arena Guadalajara in Guadalajara, Mexico. That leaves three major shows on one night if WWE goes ahead with the date.
WWE has not announced an official date, venue, or format for the John Cena Classic. That is the key point here. The December 19 date is reported as one option being considered, not a confirmed announcement from WWE.
The scheduling question matters because of who is involved. The John Cena Classic is a tournament built around one of WWE’s biggest names, and Worlds End is AEW’s year end pay per view. Running on the same night would split the wrestling audience, and it would force fans to choose between the two shows.
AAA’s Guerra de Titanes adds another layer. WWE and AAA already work together, so a WWE tournament on the same night as a major AAA event would also need sorting out internally.
The report comes from the latest edition of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter. Meltzer did not report that WWE has made a final decision, only that December 19 is one of the dates in play.
What is confirmed is that Worlds End and Guerra de Titanes are set for December 19, and that the Cena Classic date is under consideration. What is not confirmed is whether WWE will pick December 19, or go with another date entirely.
