A major part of the Crown Jewel broadcast will be run remotely from WWE headquarters in Stamford, Connecticut, according to a new report.
According to Mike Johnson of PWInsider, production and satellite trucks will be stationed at WWE headquarters, with a major part of the show engineered from there rather than on site in Riyadh. WWE will still have a sizeable production crew in Saudi Arabia, but fewer staff than usual will make the trip.
Johnson reported that cameras, sound and other equipment will be set up by the on site crew and transmitted back to the United States, where the team in Stamford will produce the show as if they were in the building.
WrestleVotes on Fightful Select also reported that WWE offered $3,000 in hazard pay to crew members making the trip to Saudi Arabia.
The setup comes with the show under extra attention. The United States State Department has had Saudi Arabia at Level 3, reconsider travel, since October 23. TKO President Mark Shapiro addressed it on the investor call this week, saying the company has three events left this year, including Crown Jewel on November 7, and that WWE is all systems go.
Crown Jewel takes place Saturday, November 7, at the ANB Arena in Riyadh, starting at noon Eastern. The show is headlined by World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns against Undisputed WWE Champion Sami Zayn for the Men’s Crown Jewel Championship. Liv Morgan faces Chelsea Green for the Women’s Crown Jewel Championship, and Cody Rhodes meets Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match.
What is confirmed is the remote production plan, the hazard pay offer, and that the show goes ahead as scheduled. What is not confirmed is how much of the broadcast will be handled from Stamford, or whether the setup changes anything fans see on screen.
