WWE Files New Trademark For Former WCW PPV
WWE has filed two identical trademarks for “Bash At The Beach” with The United States Patent and Trademark Office.
On 5/4, WWE filed applications for the trademarks which were entered into the trademark database on Friday (5/7) morning. Both filings are for merchandise purposes, specifically clothing.
International Class 025: Clothing, namely, tops, shirts, jackets, sweatshirts, hoodies; outerwear, namely, coats; bottoms, pants, shorts, underwear, dresses, pajamas, lingerie, clothing ties, scarves, gloves, swimwear; Halloween and masquerade costumes; footwear, namely, shoes, sneakers, slippers, flip flops, boots; headwear, namely, hats, caps; wrist bands as clothing; bandanas;
Intent to Use: The applicant has a bona fide intention, and is entitled, to use the mark in commerce on or in connection with the identified goods/services.
WWE and Cody Rhodes Trademark Battle
Last November, WWE filed six trademarks for past WCW properties including, Slamboree, The Match Beyond, Bunkhouse Stampede, BattleBowl, SuperBrawl, Bash At The Beach
Those trademarks were all filed under entertainment services, to be used as shows about professional wrestling.
The Bash At The Beach trademark is set for publication on 5/11 with the UPSTO, giving any other party 30 days to oppose before it’s officially registered and owned by WWE
Cody Rhodes had previously filed trademarks for all the names, but had abandoned filings for Superbrawl, Bunkhouse Stampede, Battlebowl, The Match Beyond, and Slamboree.
Rhodes spent several months fighting to trademark The Bash At The Beach name, which had been denied by The United States Patent and Trademark Office due to confusion with a WWE-owned “The Bash” trademark.
All Elite Wrestling produced multiple events under The Bash At The Beach moniker, including two Dynamite specials.
It is believed WWE struck a deal with Cody to gain ownership of these trademarks, in return Cody was allowed to use the Cody Rhodes name, which WWE abandoned the last fall.
