It looks like WWE could be staying in the Tampa area a little longer.
Last August, WWE exited the Performance Center, which both Raw and SmackDown called home throughout the pandemic. The company moved to the Amway Center in Orlando Florida where they created the ‘ThunderDome’, a state-of-the-art experience with a virtual audience.
In December, WWE made the move from Orlando to St Petersburg, rebuilding their ThunderDome inside of the Tropicana Field. Various pay-per-views including TLC, Royal Rumble, and Elimination Chamber were held inside the stadium, however, they will have to relocate following WrestleMania due to the Tampa Bay Ray’s return.
Dave Meltzer noted in the Wrestling Observer Newsletter, the WWE travel department is still booking flights to Tampa for the Monday and Friday after WrestleMania, meaning WWE’s next location will likely be somewhere in the Tampa area, at least RAW and SmackDown that week.
In a separate report, Meltzer added WWE is in discussions with Yuengling Center at the University of South Florida. That venue played host to the 1995 Royal Rumble.
The Amalie Arena, which has hosted WWE events in the past is currently booked for NBA and NHL games through May.
WWE is set to host WrestleMania 37 on April 10th & 11th inside the Raymond James Stadium in Tampa Florida, which will also see fans return for the first time (excluding NXT) since March 2020.
