WWE Allegedly Trying Secure More Talent In Unethical Ways

The WWE has once again started a signing spree, and are trying to secure as much talent as possible. The WWE has a tryout class in January, as well as ramping up their NXT UK promotion.

Dave Meltzer noted on today’s edition of Wrestling Observer Radio that the WWE is signing people left and right, and do not want to leave the door open to competition. According to Meltzer, promoters are saying the WWE is “tampering” with other peoples talent.

The WWE moved the date of their NXT Takeover: New York event that was originally head-to-head with ROH/NJPW G1 Supercard. The WWE’s statement is due to wanting what’s best for fans. The truth behind this matter hasn’t been revealed, but competition from G1 seems to be the likely reason.

Canyon Ceman is the Senior Director of Talent Development for WWE, and in charge of securing talent for the company. Ceman travels around the world alongside WWE’s head talent scout William Regal in attempts to find the best worldwide talent from the independent scene.

Meltzer noted back in March, WWE contacted talent who were contracted to Major League Wrestling, and were rejected after talent forwarded WWE legal documents to MLW officials.

Ring Of Honor threatened to sue the WWE in 2017 after the WWE were contacting talent while under contract. The WWE pulled many offers from ROH talent, and delayed offers for others and waited several months after their contract expired. This included Bobby Fish, Kyle O’Reilly, Adam Cole and Donovan Dijak.
