Shane McMahon is reportedly gone from WWE.

Shane McMahon made his in-ring return to WWE last Saturday as part of the Men’s Royal Rumble Match, in his first match since WrestleMania 37 last year.

Shane McMahon didn’t just compete in the match, but also helped produce it, per Ringside News. According to Fighful Select, one wrestler described the match as ‘one of the most frustrating and stressful experiences of their WWE career.

Earlier this week, Dave Meltzer reported that Shane McMahon was scheduled to wrestle at both Elimination Chamber later this month and WrestleMania 38. However this is no longer the case.

According to Ringside News, in a report which has now been confirmed by Dave Meltzer, Shane McMahon has ‘quietly been let go by WWE.’

The creative team were informed that there will be no more creative discussions regarding McMahon, who was scheduled to become a regular heel on the Raw brand.

Following the report, WrestleVotes noted on Twitter that the situation could have ‘ripple effects’ for years to come, going beyond anything that may or may not have happened last Saturday at the Royal Rumble.

PWInsider have now provided an update on the situation, noting that Shane McMahon was pushing to face Austin Theory at WrestleMania, since Vince McMahon is currently working with him on Raw. There was also push for McMahon to face Seth Rollins at WrestleMania, with plans for the feud to be set up during the Men’s Royal Rumble Match. It should be noted that neither of these feuds were 100% locked in for WrestleMania.

PWInsider confirmed the reports of McMahon working as a producer for the Men’s Royal Rumble Match, with Shane being frustrated as he ‘wasn’t allowed to do what he wanted’, with Vince potentially shooting down his ideas.

The feeling is that McMahon took most of the heat for the Men’s Royal Rumble Match, and will eventually return to WWE once the heat dies down. McMahon doesn’t have any executive responsibilities within WWE, as he has been focusing his time on Ideanomics since being appointed Executive Chairman last August.
