Sami Zayn retained the Undisputed WWE Championship against Je’Von Evans on Raw, and the fallout set up a new title match for Crown Jewel.
Zayn interrupted Raw General Manager Adam Pearce at the start of the October 26 show in Fresno, California. Evans then confronted the champion, and Pearce made the title match on the spot. Zayn won the impromptu match with a Helluva Kick.
Penta tried to get involved during the match. He came to the ring with his Money in the Bank briefcase, but Bron Breakker attacked him before he could cash in. After Zayn retained, The Vision attacked Evans and Penta. Breakker hit Evans with a spear, and Bronson Reed hit both men with a Tsunami.
Evans and Penta did not let it end there. Backstage, they asked Pearce for a match against The Vision. Pearce made it official for Crown Jewel on November 7. Evans and Penta will challenge Bron Breakker and Austin Theory for the World Tag Team Championships.
That will be the first time The Vision have defended the titles since winning them on the July 7 episode of Raw. The match adds another championship bout to a Crown Jewel card that already had Zayn set to face World Heavyweight Champion Roman Reigns for the men’s Crown Jewel Championship.
Zayn’s win keeps him as champion heading into that champion against champion match. Evans, meanwhile, went from challenging for the WWE title on Raw to getting a tag title shot at Crown Jewel in the same night.
What is confirmed is that Zayn retained, Penta’s cash-in attempt was stopped before it happened, and the tag title match is official for Crown Jewel. What is not confirmed is whether Penta will try to cash in again before Crown Jewel, or how The Vision will respond on television.
