No WWE talent has declined to travel to Saudi Arabia for Crown Jewel, according to Dave Meltzer of the Wrestling Observer Newsletter.
Meltzer reported in the latest edition of the newsletter that there are no reports of anyone in the company pulling out of the November 7 show in Riyadh. He also reported that there are no reports of WWE giving talent the option to stay home.
One top star in the company told Meltzer that declining to go is something very much not being encouraged, in the nicest of terms. That quote is the clearest sign yet of how WWE is handling travel for the show internally.
Online rumors had named a few stars as possibly refusing to travel. Meltzer said those claims are unfounded, because the wrestlers in question were not booked for the show in the first place. Their absence from the card was not a sign of a refusal to travel.
Crown Jewel is still set for Saturday, November 7 in Riyadh. The show was moved to a new venue, The Venue, also known as ANB Arena, after the original venue change was announced on October 28. TKO President Mark Shapiro addressed the Saudi Arabia events at a town hall this week, saying safety would come before business goals if there was danger or further escalation.
The card includes Roman Reigns against Sami Zayn for the men’s Crown Jewel Championship, Liv Morgan against Chelsea Green for the women’s Crown Jewel Championship, and Cody Rhodes against Randy Orton in a Last Man Standing match.
What is confirmed is Meltzer’s report, the November 7 date, and the new venue listing. What is not confirmed is whether any further travel or card changes will come in the final week before the show.
