Update 9:15 a.m. ET – Tony Maglio of The Wrap has confirmed that Rob Gronkowski’s deal with WWE has been finalized, and he is set to appear on the 3/20 edition of Friday Night SmackDown
Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski has officially signed with WWE, an insider told TheWrap exclusively. The ex-NFL great is set to debut on next week’s “Friday Night SmackDown” on Fox.
Current plans suggest Gronkowski is scheduled to appear at Wrestlemania 36, but will not have a match.
I’m told Gronk will APPEAR at #WrestleMania in a build-up to a future match. In other words, he will not have a MATCH at #Wrestlemania36 https://t.co/Ls0GJuoOzr

Former New England Patriots tight end Rob Gronkowski is close to finalizing a deal with WWE.
As first reported by Ryan Satin on WWE Backstage, Gronkowski is “deep in talks” with WWE, and could appear on the 3/20 edition of Friday Night SmackDown.
Gronkowski appeared in the 2017 Andre The Giant Memorial Battle Royal at Wrestlemania 33, jumping the barricade to help Mojo Rawley.
In February, WWE executives Triple H and Stephanie McMahon appeared at Gronkowksi’s Superbowl beach party.
In a tweet posted on 2/1, Triple H invited Gronkowski to Summerslam 2020 in Boston.
Thanks for the invite to the Beach Party @RobGronkowski … maybe you should come to our party in Boston … heard it’s the biggest of the summer. @StephMcMahon pic.twitter.com/eRQ8z0UmQI
