Mainstream Reporter Claims WWE Pitched For Them To Write Story On AEW/Dominos Controversy

This past Wednesday’s AEW Fight for the Fallen on TNT ended in a controversial fashion when deathmatch king Nick Gage took a pizza cutter to Chris Jericho’s forehead moments before the broadcast went to a commercial for Domino’s Pizza.

The timing of the spot was extraordinarily coincidental, but did force Dominos to release a statement indicating that they might pull their advertisement spots from AEW programming for the future. However, the story continues to only get a little weirder.

According to David Bixenspan from Babyface vs. Heel, a mainstream reporter privately shared with the publication that WWE had reached out to them to write an article regarding the AEW and Domino’s controversy and further smear the promotion for its mature content.

This comes only days after WWE Chairman Vince McMahon said that AEW is not competition in his mind before making a joke about giving AEW more talent after the number of releases from his company.

The report states that the identity of the writer is being kept a secret, but Bixenspan does remind readers of the similar tactics McMahon took on former WCW Owner Ted Turner during the early days of the Monday Night Wars.

To add more intrigue the Fight for the Fallen matchup between Gage and Jericho was one of the highest viewed segments on the whole show, and a peak in the key demographic areas. As of this writing, TNT/WarnerMedia has yet to officially lose any advertisers during the AEW broadcast.
