WWE has written Elias off television, following a hit-n-run angle on SmackDown, causing him to be out of action for several months.
According to Dave Meltzer of The Wrestling Observer, Elias is suffering from a legitimate torn pectoral muscle, and the angle on SmackDown was meant to write him off television.
WWE announced Elias suffered broken ribs in addition to a torn pectoral muscle. As of now, the only legitimate injury known is the torn muscle.
Elias was originally in the semifinals of the WWE Intercontinental tournament, but was removed due to injury. AJ Styles advanced to the finals, and will face Daniel Bryan.
It’s unknown how long exactly Elias will be out of action.
