Team Willow won the women’s Blood and Guts match on the November 4 episode of Dynamite, beating Triangle of Madness, Divine Dominion and Persephone in Jacksonville, Florida.
The finish saw Julia Hart tap out to a double submission. Harley Cameron trapped Hart in a single leg crab while Kris Statlander wrapped barbed wire around her face in a modified camel clutch. Hart had nowhere to go and tapped out, giving the win to Willow Nightingale, Statlander, Cameron, Jamie Hayter, Alex Windsor and Queen Aminata.
The match was brutal even by Blood and Guts standards. Persephone climbed the cage and hit a splash that drove Queen Aminata, the TBS Champion, through a table. Megan Bayne bled heavily and kept fighting. Skye Blue was taken out by Hayter and Windsor with Two Birds One Stone before the finish.
The win keeps the focus on the women’s tag team picture heading into Full Gear. The Brawling Birds, Hayter and Windsor, hold the AEW Women’s World Tag Team Championship, and they will defend it against Wrathlander, Statlander and Cameron, at Full Gear on November 14 in Phoenix, Arizona. The two teams won together here, and next week they will be on opposite sides.
The match opened the show after a video package narrated by Dean Malenko, and Justin Roberts explained before the bell that the match can only be won by submission or surrender. The women’s match set the tone for the night, and the men’s match closed it.
What is confirmed is the Team Willow win, the submission finish, and the Brawling Birds against Wrathlander for the tag titles at Full Gear. What is not confirmed is how the two teams work together on television before the pay-per-view, or whether the rest of Triangle of Madness and Divine Dominion stay involved in the feud.
