Enzo Amore is reportedly back under contract with WWE, eight years after his release from the company.
According to PWInsider, there are people in WWE who believe Amore signed a new deal with the company at some point over the past week. The report has not been confirmed by WWE, and no return date has been announced.
One source told PWInsider that Amore will likely be sent to NXT when WWE is ready to put him back on television. That would keep him away from the main roster for now, and away from Big Cass, who returned to WWE earlier this year after his AEW contract ended.
Fightful Select also reported that Amore reached out to AEW about a job before signing with WWE. Nothing came of those talks, and no deal with AEW materialized.
Amore was with WWE from 2012 to 2018. He was released in January 2018 and has not had a long run with a major promotion since, though he has worked briefly for ROH, MLW and TNA and has stayed active on the independent scene. He held the WWE Cruiserweight Championship during his first run with the company.
The timing is notable because last week, Sean Ross Sapp said on Fightful Select that Amore had not signed a new WWE contract as of then, and it was not clear whether WWE planned to sign him at all. The PWInsider report says the deal came together over the past week.
What is confirmed is the PWInsider report that people in WWE believe Amore is signed, and the Fightful Select report that he spoke to AEW first. What is not confirmed is when Amore returns to television, whether he goes to NXT as reported, or whether WWE plans to reunite him with Big Cass down the line.
